A Great Post On Gas Prices

This guy has it all figured out.  Every single word is right on the money; and it solidly outlines how the Democrats are so god damn effing stupid.  They know absolutely *nothing* in terms of economics.

But.....we have to curse those damn evil oil companies!  How dare they make profits!  Curse those share holders!

Hmmm, haven't you read something like that before?

High gas prices at the pump?  You haven't seen ANYTHING yet if the Democrats get back the White House.
You can take that to the bank.

Don't build new refineries.
Don't drill for oil.
Don't drill for gas.
Let China take the oil from the Gulf Coast instead.

There's the god damn "change"  the Democrats are promising you, and their idea of "progress."

Soon, we'll all be riding horses again if the Democrats and environmentalist bastards get their way.

Thanks a lot, you sonzabitches.

Braden,

I am curious to hear your thoughts on this article:

http://www.wisebread.com/what-will-you-do-when-gas-hits-4-per-gallon

In particular, the last couple paragraphs:

"Maybe someone will invent an electric car. Oh hang on, they did. It was called the EV1 and it worked. Actually, it worked too well. The prospect of a car that ran entirely on electricty and required little-to-no maintenance was too much for the oil companies to bear. GM scrapped them all for "some reason." I think we all know why. If you haven't seen it yet, watch "Who Killed The Electric Car?" for more information...Maybe some bright spark will invent a car that runs on water. Oh, well, that one's already in the works. If you didn't already know, Ohio inventor John Kanzius has invented a machine that can "burn" salt-water. The result is an engine that runs on the most abundant resource on the planet...Now, when large oil and gas companies learn about this invention, I can see one of two things happening. One, they will embrace the technology with open arms and help John develop a salt-water engine. Ha, sorry, my little joke. Or two, they'll buy up the patent and let the idea rot for about 50 years, then introduce some lame salt-water/gasoline hybrid. That's basically what they did to the electric car, which is why hybrid cars are now becoming all the rage...and these beauties still rely on all that lovely oil..."

Braden, you talk about progress and how getting more oil is the solution and how oil is the answer to all of our problems and if we drill for OIL everywhere America will prosper and everyone will win.

To me, it seems like the oil companies are ultimately at fault for impeding America's progress. Every time someone comes up with an alternative energy source to run an automobile on, Big Oil goes and runs or buys them right out of town. I think you've got it all wrong. Its not the environmentalists causing 4 dollar gasoline. It is America's ridiculous reliance on oil and the big oil comapnies out there completely taking advantage of that fact. There are hundreds of other ways to run an internal combustion engine but as long as Big Oil keeps bullying the competition around and raping us and raping our environment, we will never see any of those alternatives.

If America's idea of progress is simply to drill and drill and drill for oil and never think twice about the monopoly that oil has over the energy market and the brainwashing effect it has on consumers...well, then, consider me a hippie Anti-American bastard because that certainly is not the type of progress that I would be particularly proud of.

For Cripe sakes Andy:

How can the oil companies be at fault when the environmentalists are the ones who opposed the building of new refineries (we haven't had a new one built in over 30 years now)?

The same goes for nuclear power, Andy....the environmentalists oppose the construction of nuclear power, and windmills ("they kill birds!").

Andy, name me ONE single alternative source of energy we could use right NOW to replace what oil offers us in terms of energy. Name me ONE technology which can perform on the very same level as oil. Name ONE technology out there that is READY right NOW which will keep up with the current demands oil powered technologies already have.

You said it yourself in a previous comment, we should "be patient" as you put it. Be patient? Ok, let's all be patient and wait for the alternative energy sources while we continue to bleed to death "waiting patiently" for those alternative sources you spoke of.

And Andy, I am surprised at you....aren't you in the least bothered by the fact China is drilling off the Florida coast? Why can they get the oil there and we can't, Andy? I think you already know the answer. Your friends at the Sierra Club and Greenpeace will be happy to supply you with those explanations.

Andy, you totally miss the point in all of this:

Currently, as it stands RIGHT NOW...OIL is where IT'S AT in terms of energy. If you cannot accept that fact, then you're in serious denial.

But I'll make a deal with you, Andy: In terms of "being patient" and waiting...why don't you set the example for the rest of us to follow? Give up your car, house, and everything else in your life which depends on oil. Set that example and "wait patiently," Andy.

Wow...that pretty much had nothing to do with what I was talking about...my comment was about the content in the article above and me wanting to hear what you thought of it. I was talking about how Big Oil is a Big Bully and you somehow got off on some weird tangent.

I tend to go off on tangents, but then again Andy, what I said does have a lot to do with what you said if you look at it from the broader perspective here. Also, I was merely suggesting we all use the advice you said in an earlier comment via another post.

Speaking of monopolies, how about the countless number of monopolies the federal government holds over us? Does that bother you?
