Say Hello To The Sony ICF-SW7600

It's been a while since I added to my Sony shortwave radio collection.  This time, I eyed up the Sony ICF-SW7600; and won it via eBay on January 12th for a mere $52.00.  This is one fine looking radio, and considering its age, it is virtually in mint condition; it doesn't look like this radio was used very much at all. The previous owner of this radio definitely took great care of it. Although this model lacks the famous synchronous detection as found in the next two models of this series (the next two models are the ICF-SW7600G and the ICF-SW7600GR, which I currently own), reception on this set is very good.  This radio is a definite welcome member to my Sony shortwave radio collection; and it will be well taken care of.

Here's a photo of it for your viewing enjoyment (click to enlarge):

Wow, those are a blast from the past! I've not seen those since I was starting college in the early 90's lol. How come you're into shortwave radios? :)

I started listening to shortwave radio as a teenager w/ my Dad in the mid 1980s. It was a blast to watch him string out the longwire antenna as we sat in the kitchen pulling in all of those shortwave stations from around the world. I guess it's just a hobby which brings back good memories for me. :)
