Lakers Vs Celtics - What A Great Game

One of the better basketball games out there during my Sega Genesis days was Lakers Vs Celtics from none other than Electronic Arts.  Even back then, Electronic Arts made the best sports games like they do now.  I can remember the thrill of purchasing Lakers Vs Celtics and bringing it home the first time to pop into my Sega Genesis console, to be thrilled by awesome (at the time) visuals along with the stereo electro/techno soundtrack which still makes my foot tap to this day when I hear it.

As I reminisce, below is an actual screen shot from Lakers Vs Celtics running on the Gens32 Sega Genesis emulator.

Gens32 is one of the best Genesis emulators out there today.  It renders everything perfectly, from the last pixel to the very last sound effect/audio track.  I dumped a portion of the audio from Gens32 so you can hear how cool the Lakers Vs Celtics soundtrack really was.  Check it out by clicking here.

Oddly enough, I am currently having more fun playing the games from the old consoles (such as the Atari Lynx, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64 via emulators) than I am on the XBox or via my computer.  I guess my age is catching up to me.  I can honestly admit that I appreciate the older games more, they seem to have an added playability factor for me than the newer console games.  Yes I know, all of the newer consoles offer mind boggling eye candy graphics and killer digital surround audio, but still, the older games appeal to me more.  Maybe because the older games look more like "games" to me.  Most of the newer games today look so good that they actually look "sterile."  To me, nothing is better than kicking back with the Genesis versions of Lakers Vs Celtics or John Madden Football (the original, as it was called), or better still, Star Fox on the Super Nintendo.

Those were the days.
