Hot Action At Home Front

Not that kind of action.  Clear your dirty mind already.  I am speaking about the type of action related to fire fighting duties.

Within easy walking distance, an abandoned building along highway Rt. 519 heading into Houston was torched by someone on a black and white bicycle (according to bystanders I talked to).  The inside of the building had a supply of old tires which burned quite nicely.  My wife, son, and I were at Trinity Point when this all occurred.  We noticed the fire trucks and police cars blocking the highway into town while returning home.  Anyway, according to everyone I talked to, the air was filled with black, thick smoke as the tires inside were engulfed in flames set by an arsonist-wannabe who probably thought it would be funny to do such an idiotic stunt.

Needless to say, as soon as I got home, I ran into the house, grabbed my trusty Digital Rebel XT, and walked down to get off some shots.  I managed to get around 150 shots.  Am I nuts, or what?

Below are some of what I think are the better shots.

My question is why was power being provided to this building in the first place?  It does not make any sense, if you ask me.  All in all, everything went well.  No one was hurt, and the fire was put out relatively quickly (we did not make it home in time for shots of the fire) from what I was told.  I do hope they catch the person who set fire to the building; abandoned or not, someone could of gotten hurt or worse.
