Into The Realm Of Subtext

Today marks the day that I move up to a different blogging application known as Subtext.  Subtext is superior to Dasblog in the ways of database storage. Dasblog uses XML as it's database backend whereas Subtext uses a speedy MS-SQL database backend.  This application is dang fast, and I like the plethora of handy administrative options it offers.

In no way am I saying that do not like the Dasblog application.  Nope, that's not what I am saying at all.  Dasblog is fine for lower traffic sites, but when the traffic starts to build up, Dasblog begins to slow down and for a techy like me, well that just will not do.  I am also pleased that Subtext works flawlessly with Blogjet.

In the meantime, I appreciate everyone's patience as I make the transition to this new blogging application.  Being there is currently no import tool to port all of my Dasblog entries, it doesn't look like I'll be importing my Dasblog data anytime soon; unless of course I write my own import utility, which probably will not happen anytime soon considering my addiction to Call Of Duty 2. *smile*  Dang, if it doesn't look sweet in DirectX 9 mode.

Anyway, I'll be transferring my links and blogroll very soon, perhaps even tonight.

All that being said, I wish Omar and the rest of the Dasblog developers all the best.  Perhaps if they ever port Dasblog to use a SQL backend, I'll make the switch back.

Braden,
First let me say, glad to hear that you're enjoying your subText experience thus far and please feel free to contribute to the project.

Now, onto business... You've mentioned that you want to import your Daslog content into your new subText installation, yes? Not a problem! subText fully supports importing/exporting of content from/into the BlogML format, and per the BlogML site, so does Dasblog.

So you should be able to export your content from Dasblog and then use the import functionality built into subText to pull the content into your new install.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact myself or the rest of the devs mailing list.
