This evening, my wife and I took the kids to the Outback Steakhouse in Washington, PA to use a $50.00 gift card we received from her brother for Christmas.
I decided to go with the unsweetened iced tea for my beverage, along with a half order of the cheese fries appetizer for the rest of the table to enjoy.
The cheese fries, unfortunately, were rather “blah.” In fact, they were burnt and just plain nasty — I sent them back. Oh yeah, since when did Outback start using seasoned french fries? I hate those things. What happened?
For my entrée, I went with the 9 ounce Outback Special, ordered medium rare, plus mashed potatoes, along with the blue cheese wedge salad.
The salad was okay, although there was a lot of frozen lettuce found throughout, a major disappointment. What’s with the frozen lettuce these days? El Campesino also served us frozen lettuce during our last (and do I mean “last”) visit.
My steak arrived, and it looked good enough; but that’s about all it was – it “looked” good.
Unfortunately (again), it was completely inedible. I couldn’t even cut the wretched hunk of meat with my steak knife. In fact, it was like trying to cut into a chunk of shoe leather. What a major disappointment; I sent it back, also. **sigh**
I’ll give the manager on duty credit for coming over twice for both the burnt cheese fries, and my steak. He did manage to take off both dishes from the bill which was to be expected in a situation such as this.
To think this meal would have cost nearly the entire value of the gift card if I wouldn’t have said anything about the cheese fries and the steak.
What a complete let down this Outback Steakhouse was. I
don’t think know we’ll never go back. Not at what a meal costs when a gift card isn’t available to use. Blah. I’m hungry.
